Just what is podcasting?You all know that audio and video can be put online and video has been incredibly popular, but why is it called a podcast? Well a podcast is an audio or video programme that is released regularly, just like a radio or TV show but over the Internet. Many large broadcasters now use this so that people can listen or watch their programmes again. There are also many business, big and small using it and also individuals are doing it too. But why? Why Podcast?It is a great way to keep your audience informed or entertained. This can be used to keep your clients up to date with the latest information about your products, it can be used in education to release lessons as they are delivered, and if you have a podcast that if enjoyable you can make money out of it. Just like radio and TV shows there are ways to advertise and earn some money. The larger your audience the more you can make. No one ever complains that a podcast is too short, but I do hear people saying that a podcast was too long, it was only 12 minutes, I cut it to 8 minutes and no one complained. If you want to get your podcast noticed, do them regularly, keep them short and make sure the content is relevant to your audience. Whether it is an audio or video podcast please make sure you record good sound, if people can't hear what you are saying they will quickly turn off. |
A sign of the times is Disney have announced Keychains, this is an online movie service. It sounds like they are embracing this technology and all podcasters should take notice. Whenever a big name gets behind online entertainment this only proves a good thing for us podcasters. |
